News just in. Jack Thorne, screenwriter of he Scouting Book For Boys, has been hired to pen a script for a potential Skins movie!! Exciting stuff! Apparently, it will feature both the new cast of series’ 3 and 4 and the old cast of series’ 1 and 2.
If you’re a Skins fan like me, you’ll be pretty excited upon hearing this, especially seeing as though the last series which aired its finale last Thursday ended in quite an unfinished manner. I won’t spoil it for y’all just yet. Also, I wouldn’t have minded if 2 years ago, they just kept the old cast. I had really gotten used to them and grown to love them all individually as their characters’ were superbly written. The new cast just haven’t been as groundbreaking?
The 2nd cast featured two minor cast members from the 1st cast: Effy and Pandora. Surprise, surprise: They seem to be everyone’s favourite characters XD Seeing the series head-on collision would be pretty epic though. I’m not too sure about the reliability of the source. Unless, its a massive project, I doubt Kara Scoladerio, Dev Patel, Nicholas Hoult, or Mitch Hewer would be totally on board, seeing as though they seem to be having fantastc movie careers, especially Slumdog Star Dev.
Another problem with a potential mvie would be the dodgy target audience. Its meant to be directed at quite obviously, over 18 years olds due to the nature of the show. It even gives a warning before logging onto the website as some characters happen to be quite foul-mouthed. If a movie was created, I don’t see how it could be less than an 18-certificate. This would suddenly ostracise the majority of viewers who are actually under 18.
